Five albums featuring composer-producer Stefano Torossi were reissued through the first eleven months of 2015 including Luca Proietti, Valeria Nicoletta, and Stefano Torossi’s Emotions on Red Globe Records and four by Torossi for Deneb Records that he also produced: Planet Woman: Documentary – Drama – Lifestyle, Check Up: Daytime TV – 1990s – Background Music, Religion and Paranormal: Mystical – Supernatural – Documentary, and Crime and Punishment: Documentary – News – Beds. Both labels belong to Italy’s Flippermusic.

Luca Proietti, Valeria Nicoletta, and Stefano Torossi’s Emotions was first released by Deneb Records in 2011 under the title Vocal Emotions. The album of original compositions features vocalist Nicoletta in a variety of musical styles. An article on the original album is HERE.

The quartet of Deneb digital reissues were initially released by Italy’s Costanza Records between 1998 and 1999, retaining the same song titles, and running order as the original CDs. Each album was produced by Stefano Torossi, who is also credited as a co-composer for every track. Artists with multiple contributions include Federico Arezzini, Sandro Brugnolini, Fabrizio Fornaci, Claudio Gizzi, Piero Montanari, David Nerattini, and more.

The most recent reissue, Crime and Punishment: Documentary – News – Beds features Stefano Torossi and composer-performers Federico Arezzini, Sandro Brugnolini, Pierluigi Campili, Fabrizio Fornaci, Alessandro Forti, Claudio Gizzi, Piero Montanari, Stefano Torossi, and Marco Vannozzi. Costanza Records, a record label Stefano Torossi released his first vinyl LP for in 1968 Musica per commenti sonori (CO 10002), initially released Musica per commenti sonori: Crime and Punishment on CD in 1998.

It appears none of the 22 album cuts is available online at this time. However, the entire Musica per commenti sonori (CO 10005) LP Sandro Brugnolini and Stefano Torossi released by Costanza in 1969 is now online including the opening track, the aptly-named, library music funk classic “Sweet Beat”:

Saxophonist-composer Sandro Brugnolini is also featured on Check Up: Daytime TV – 1990s – Background Music, originally released by Costanza in 1999.

In 2015, Planet Woman: Documentary – Drama – Lifestyle was reissued as a digital download by Deneb Records. The CD release from 1998 includes Federico Arezzini, Pierluigi Campili, Francesco Demegni, Fabrizio Fornaci, Alessandro Forti, Claudio Gizzi, David Nerattini, Luca Proietti, Letizia Romeo, Marco Vannozzi, and Alessandro Varzi. None of these tracks are currently on YouTube or similar sites.

Religion and Paranormal: Mystical – Supernatural – Documentary, the fourth Deneb digital reissue was originally released by Costanza in CD in 1998 and features Federico Arezzini, Francesco Demegni, Fabrizio Fornaci, Claudio Gizzi, and Letizia Romeo.

Claudio Gizzi

Pianist-keyboard player Claudio Gizzi has collaborated with Stefano Torossi on more than a dozen albums and compilations for Costanza Records, Deneb Records, Fonit Cetra, and more.

In 2015, two of his most famous albums were given the deluxe vinyl reissue treatment by Dagored: Flesh for Frankenstein from 1973, a double LP, and Blood for Dracula from 1974. Gizzi composed the music for both Andy Warhol films as well as directing the Unione Musicisti de Roma orchestra composed of more than sixty musicians.

Narassa (aka Sandro Brugnolini)

Sandro Brugnolini and Stefano Torossi have been collaborated numerous albums and compilations from the late 1960s to the present. In 2015, Cinedelic Records reissued Viaggio Pop on double LP, an impossible-to-find 1974 album by Sandro Brugnolini and Giuliano Giunti released under Brugnolini’s Narassa alias for Ayna Records.

David Nerattini

David Nerattini has worked with Stefano Torossi on a third album, Rai Trade’s Sport & Travel released in 1999. They first met in his youth when his father worked for RAI TV in the 1970s and 1980s. Torossi composed some music on several projects. Among other projects, Nerattini plays drums in La Batteria, a modern band inspired by some of the greatest library music and soundtrack artists from Italy in the 1960s and 1970s. Other players include Emanuele Bultrini on mandolin and classical, acoustic, and electric guitars, Paolo Pecorelli on electric bass, and Stefano Vicarelli on Mellotron, Hammond C3 organ, and harpsichord.

La Batteria’s eponymous debut album on Flippermusic’s Penny Records was released at the beginning of the year. The band has also been performing live at various venues around Europe. The latest information is available on the La Batteria facebook page.

Valeria Nicoletta

Vocalist-composer Valeria Nicoletta has made several albums with Stefano Torossi including Spiritual Experience, with Luca Proietti, in 2001, Claudio Passavanti’s Fashionrama in 2003, and Luca Proietti’s World Windows in 2007. Compositions from these albums have been licensed in films and continue to appear on several compilations each year including the title cut from Vocal Emotions, the 2011 album with Proietti and Torossi, selected for Autumn: Orange and Yellow Reflections, a 2015 digital compilation on Relaxing Music.

Valeria Nicoletta was in Southern Italy recently where she had a chance to make a video for “Soul,” which uses the paintings of Renata Castellano. This new video, sung in the Calabrese dialect, is about the various changes and disturbances the soul experiences from beginning to end.
