Overall I like how she turned out. I
didn't really pay too much attention to
material or color color choices, I just
used what I had on hand.
I did not use all of the
patterns and instructions provided for
the project. I just chose the items I
wanted to experiment with at this time
but there were plenty of other very
useful things for a later project.
This is the first doll that I can say
I completely custom made - there isn't a
factory item on her.

Her belt/skirt is
completely scratch built with the odd
scraps I had left over after the boots
vest and gauntlets were made. The leaf
shaped pieces are just glued to a piece
of salvage edge.
I had trouble with the boots but was
determined to make it work, so I just
fussed with it until I got something
that looked decent. Now that I have
assembled a pair and understand how it
all goes together, future boots will be
a lot neater than this set
(the dark spots that look
like gaps in the pics are actually just
very messy glossy glue spots). I
reinforced the lacing holes with paint.
Of course the paint got very messy -
especially since my cat walked across it
while it was still wet!

Her finishing touches are her new
staff. A twig that I used design
markers on for a pattern and shading, I
used a toothpick for the sharp tip
(again colored with design markers) and
beads and silk flowers for details. She
also has a sword and scabbard, custom
made but NOT by me. I did have to
design the strap that attaches it to the
belt and found a pink leaf bead and a
few petals from a pink silk flower to
help dress it up a bit.

Action Shot to show
her sword out of the scabbard and that
her ankles flex inside the boots!

Her sword and scabbard are by Ed Cassar.

I also used a bit of the thread and
petals from the silk flower in the
twisted section of her hair. Her
haircut was the easiest part for me - I
think that shaggy cut is one of my
specialties. (it all started with my
Dizzy doll).
I provided a before shot of her face
paint and a close up of the final paint
job so you can see that I really did
repaint her even though she still looks
like a "Barbie" paint job.
