"I got the job!" Cassandra said as soon as Sterling answered.
"That’s wonderful!" He said and Cassandra could tell that he was just as excited for her as she was.
They chatted for a little while sharing the excitement and then Sterling said,
"I knew you could do anything you set your mind to. So what’s your next big dream?"
The fact that his question came just as she was staring at her empty ring finger made her almost drop the phone.

Cassandra shares her good news with
Sterling |

She took a quick glance outside to the yard still set up for a wedding that never happened and another glance at her empty ring finger and then answered,
"I’m not sure."
"So many possibilities to choose from that you can’t make up your mind?" Sterling’s voice laughed on the other end of the line.
"Well when you figure out what it is I’m sure you won’t let anything stand in your way." He teased her.
His lighthearted mood brought Cassandra back to her own good mood and they ended the call with the promise to go to dinner on Friday to celebrate her new job.

She starts thinking about the future |

Alexander was thrilled when he heard the news, "Wow Cass you’ll be a great teacher! Way better than that boring old Mr. Weatherly was."
"Son, Weatherly wasn’t that bad.”=" Mortimer pointed out.
"He only wanted to talk about changing the weather. I know Cass
is going to teach us so much more!" Alexander said with convection.
"You’re not biased at all are you son?" Mortimer teased.

"Of course I am!" said Alexander, "She’s my sister!"
"Thanks ‘Zander, that means a lot." Cassandra smiled.
"Well, I like the fact that you’ll get the chance to make a lot more friends." said Mortimer,
"I never liked how cooped up you were…. at the lab."
Cassandra noticed the pause before he finished the sentence and knew he was really referring to how Don had treated her.

"Yeah, I think you and Mrs. Harmon, the history teacher, are gonna get along great!" Alexander said into the sudden silence.
"Why do you think that?" Mortimer asked.
"Because she likes to tinker. Her last project was to upgrade the coffee maker in the teacher’s lounge, I think they are still trying to get the stains off the ceiling." replied Alexander.
They all started laughing remembering the time Cassandra’s own experiment with the Bunsen burner at the lab had cost her a days pay.

Late that same night Alexander was meeting his girlfriend in the dark.
"Is everything set?" He asked.
"We are all ready!" she replied with a big grin, "Everyone will be here, and Ms. Pleasant confirmed with the caterer this afternoon."
"Perfect!" Alexander was so excited, "I’ll send the limo to pick you up early so you can help Mary-Sue get my sister ready."
They both giggled then he gave her a kiss and she hurried home.

Alexander and Ginger finalize some plans |

In the early hours of the next morning Sterling was sneaking away from the Goth residence. He didn’t want Cassandra to catch him there, so he was being as quiet as he could.
The bag on his shoulder had been much fuller when he arrived. He had arrived after Cassandra had gone to bed and he and Mortimer had been up all night putting the finishing touches on a special surprise for Cassandra.

"I’m going to bed and sleeping till noon." Sterling mused as he snuck away.
Then he started laughing, "Who am I kidding I won’t be able to sleep a wink!"
He gave one final glance over his shoulder to make sure he hadn’t been seen, then he dashed off into the darkness.
